Liverpool have finally ended their long-running transfer saga with Paris Saint-Germain by reaching an agreement to sign Bradley Barcola. The deal is worth an initial £106 million, with a further £17 million in potential add-ons, taking the package to £123 million. Barcola is expected to sign a five-year contract until 2031, making him one of the biggest signings in Liverpool's history.
For FPL managers, however, the big question is simple: what price will Bradley Barcola receive, and is he worth considering?
Guaranteed minutes make Barcola exciting
The biggest positive for Barcola at Liverpool is arguably his expected playing time. After spending much of his PSG career competing for a regular starting role, the situation should be very different at Anfield.
Liverpool have invested an enormous amount of money in the Frenchman, and there is little reason to believe a player costing £106m upfront will be brought in simply to rotate. Under Andoni Iraola, Barcola should immediately be viewed as a nailed-on starter.
That is particularly important because one of the issues at PSG was the extraordinary competition for attacking positions, with Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia all competing for prominent roles. At Liverpool, Barcola should have a much clearer path to consistent minutes.
That could be hugely valuable from an FPL perspective.
Barcola has already shown elite potential
Barcola scored 11 goals for PSG in Ligue 1 last season, but his 2024/25 campaign is perhaps the more exciting reference point.
He scored 14 goals and provided 10 assists in Ligue 1, giving him 24 goal contributions in 34 appearances.
Those numbers demonstrate that Barcola is not simply a promising youngster arriving on potential. He has already produced an excellent attacking season at one of Europe's biggest clubs.
Of course, the Premier League will be significantly more difficult than Ligue 1, and expecting him to immediately replicate 14 goals and 10 assists would be unrealistic. Nevertheless, his pace, dribbling ability, attacking movement and creativity make him a player capable of producing excellent numbers.
Iraola could take him to another level
Perhaps the most exciting factor is Iraola.
The new Liverpool head coach has developed an excellent reputation for improving attacking players during his time at Bournemouth. His spell at the club resulted in three successful seasons that culminated in European qualification.
Antoine Semenyo is the obvious example. Under Iraola, Semenyo developed into one of the Premier League's most dangerous attacking players before earning a move to Manchester City for around £65m. His improvement under Iraola was significant, with his goalscoring numbers rising as he became a more complete winger.
There are other examples too. Brazilian winger Rayan thrived in Bournemouth's attacking system, while young attacker Júnior Kroupi was trusted despite his age and subsequently showed why Iraola believed in him. Bournemouth continued to perform strongly even after losing Semenyo, with Kroupi and Rayan emerging as important attacking figures.
That is particularly exciting for Barcola.
He is already regarded as one of the most promising young forwards in world football. If Iraola can improve his decision-making, end product and consistency in the same way he developed attackers at Bournemouth, Barcola could take another major step forward at Liverpool.
What will Barcola cost in FPL?
This is where things become particularly interesting.
Barcola is arriving at Liverpool with huge potential and reputation, rather than after establishing himself as one of the Premier League's elite performers. His enormous transfer fee is also partly a reflection of the inflation in today's transfer market.
Last season, Florian Wirtz was priced at £8.5m for his first Premier League campaign. That eventually looked expensive after his underwhelming debut season.
FPL price-makers are unlikely to make the same mistake again with Barcola.
Our expectation is that Barcola will be priced at £8.0m.
That feels like the perfect middle ground. He should be cheaper than Wirtz's £8.5m starting price, reflecting the fact that he still has to prove himself in the Premier League, while £8m would also acknowledge his enormous reputation, transfer fee and attacking potential.

Yes, Barcola should be firmly on your FPL watchlist.
With Cody Gakpo potentially leaving, Barcola should slot straight into Liverpool's attack and receive the kind of minutes he struggled to guarantee at PSG.
At an expected £8.0m, he would also offer an attractive route into Liverpool's attack without requiring the kind of premium investment associated with the most expensive FPL forwards.
Final verdict: Bradley Barcola is an exciting premium differential with huge scope for solid FPL returns. He carries some risk because the Premier League is a new challenge, but his talent, expected minutes, attacking numbers and the influence of Iraola make him one of the most intriguing new Differential FPL assets to consider.
