Chelsea are desperate to put off their stale record at Old Trafford by inflicting more damage on Manchester United fading away from a top-four place in the Premier League.

Manchester United hope for Champions League football was severely dashed by fellow chasers Arsenal in a 3-1 loss.

Christian Pulisic 90th minute strike gave the narrowest of wins for Chelsea against West Ham to collect their first three months at home this month.

MUN vs CHL Premier League 2021-2022 Match Preview

Bruno Fernandes miss from the spot cost Manchester United at least a point at the time they were 2-1 down against Arsenal in a crucial match allowing the opposition to go on and secure the win through a screamer from Granit Xhaka. The performance of the team was a lot better than against Liverpool but United failed to take their chances in an end to end game, striking the post couple of times and also some refereeing decisions going against them. Their shaky defence became the factor again for their loss even with Raphael Varane returning from injury and out of form, Harry Maguire benched who also received a bomb threat a day ago of the fixture. Manchester United have now slid to sixth on the chart with six points off Arsenal in fourth having played one more game than the Gunners. After being thrashed by two sides above them in the table, the Red Devils are now locked in a do or die battle in a third successive game against such a side in Chelsea. With fewer first-team players to choose from due to several injuries, United fear another defeat will drop them to the Europa Conference League spot or even out of European places if things don't improve. Although, Ralf Rangnick has admitted this could help Erik Ten Hag gain enough time to implement his style of play at the club next season they are not letting off their remaining four games of this campaign.

The American, Pulisic send a sigh of relief for Thomas Tuchel's men after he became an influential sub again in netting the late winner against a solid West Ham team, down to ten men with four minutes left on the clock. Jorginho's tame penalty, beforehand, was saved by Lukasz Fabianski but it didn't matter in the end. In a dampened atmosphere in Stamford Bridge because of the sanctions, Chelsea were able to stop there three games winless run at home in all competitions. Everything wasn't rosy on that day as Thomas Tuchel confirm star defender Antonio Rudiger will leave the club this summer for free after no contract agreement was reached in almost a year of negotiations. The sanctions and the wait for new owners at the club are slowly taking a toll with the team doing their best to end the season on a high note. The uncertainty over transfer and management will hurt them but for now, they have to control matters happening on the pitch. They are also involved in a FA Cup final next month. Chelsea's next objective is to secure three points at Old Trafford, a place where they haven't won since 2013. They have also failed to claim victory over Manchester United in the last eight matches which is troubling.
