Portugal lock horns with Germany in a Group F titanic clash to decide their faith in the competition. The Portuguese are in demand for all three points to seal qualification before facing France while the host's desperation is to get first points on board after losing to world champions.

The Selecao had to live it late against Hungary to win their opening game by slotting in three goals inside ten minutes. Raphael Guerreiro's deflected goal before Cristiano Ronaldo's record-breaking brace helped the side start the competition on a positive note.

Things were not so smooth for Germany as they fall short against France, the 2016 Euro finalist being decisive on the night. Mat Hummels scored an unfortunate own goal in the game in which Die Mannschaft failed to produce clear-cut opportunities despite controlling possession of the ball.

Injuries & suspensions :

There are no major injuries to be concerned about for the Portuguese camp. Nuno Mendes is carrying a thigh problem and training separately so he won't be involved in the game. Raphael Guerreiro will begin on the left flank as usual.

Germany sweated over  Mattias Ginter fitness after he was forced off in their Euro opener but is available for selection. Lukas Klostermann is out with a hamstring injury so Joshua Kimmich will continue in the right wingback role. Jonas Hoffman is still nursing his knee injury so there is a lack of depth in that position. Leon Goretzka is ready for action after suffering a torn fibre muscle last month.

Portugal vs Germany Head to Head :

Portugal and Germany have met each other 18 times in total. The Germans have managed 10 victories out of those clashes, 5 draws and 3 defeats. Germany have also taken all three points in each of their last four games against Portugal, all coming in a major tournament. In the 2012 European Championship facing Portugal, a 72nd minute goal from Mario Gomez grabbed the points for Germany.

POR vs GER Dream11 Team Prediction :

GK: Rui Patricio (Por)

DEF: Nelson Semedo (Por), Pepe (Por)   Ruben Dias (Por), Raphael Guerreiro (Por)

MID: William Carvalho (Por), Joshua Kimmich (Ger), Tony Kroos (Ger), Thomas Muller (Ger)

FW:  Serge Gnabry (Ger), Cristiano Ronaldo (Por)

Goalkeeper Rui Patricio wasn't had to do much in the game against Hungary although the host on that day put out a good challenge. He might just sneak in ahead of Neuer. The defense are all Portuguese including the scorer of the last match, Raphael Guerreiro. Joshua Kimmich will start as a wingback for Germany alongside fellow midfielder Tony Kroos. The Real Madrid man topped the chart with the number of tackles and passes against France. Cristiano Ronaldo will be wishing to create more records at the Euros.

Match Prediction: Portugal 1-1 Germany

Germany has always got the upper hand in this fixture going on to score four unanswered goals in the 2014 World Cup, the last meeting in a top international tournament. But the tide has changed and Portugal have become a genuine powerhouse. Fernando Santos will opt for his old pragmatic style of play for this clash to put off the German attack something France uncovered efficiently. However, it will most probably end in a draw helping Portugal in the process.
