UCL team of the week: matchday 4
Goalkeeper
Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid)
If not for the heroics of Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid would've ended up getting thrashed by Liverpool 3 or 4 nil. He proved to everyone why he is still the best goalkeeper in the world, and was the only player in that Madrid side who didn't deserve to lose.
Defenders
Conor Bradley (Liverpool)
Conor Bradley put on a performance for the ages against Real Madrid, much to the delight of Liverpool Fans who booed the returned Trent-Alexander Arnold like anything. This performance won't be forgotten anytime soon, not just by football fans but especially Vinicius Jr.
Micky van de Ven (Tottenham Hotspur)
Micky van de Ven continues to amaze us with each passing week, as he's not just putting up a solid performance in defense most weeks, but also finding the back of the net as well. If he keeps continuing this, Thomas Frank and Spurs might have a hard time keeping him away from a top European club.
Carlos Augusto (Inter Milan)
Inter Milan's Brazilian defender Carlos Augusto was brilliant both in defense and attack in their 2-1 victory over Kairat. The Brazilian scored the winning goal for the Nerazzurri, and also prevented the opposition from getting an equalizer as well. A performance to remember.
Dan Burn (Newcastle)
Newcastle might have underwhelmed in the Premier League so far, but it's a different story in the Champions League as they've simply been brilliant on European nights. Dan Burn has been one of their best players in the UCL so far, and he was yet again excellent in their 2-0 win over Athletic Club.
Florian Wirtz (Liverpool)
Liverpool fans finally saw the real Florian Wirtz against Real Madrid. He was a constant threat throughout the game for his old boss Xabi Alonso's side. The German looked worth every penny Liverpool paid for him, as this player simply looks to be a special top talent.
Midfielders
Tijjani Reijnders (Manchester City)
Tijjani Reijnders was back to his very best for Manchester City against Borussia Dortmund, grabbing a brace of assists and putting in an overall solid performance. A much needed confidence boost for the Dutch midfielder.
Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool)
Alexis Mac Allister is slowly getting back to his best for Liverpool, and he also scored the crucial winning goal for the Reds to sink Real Madrid. Might be the beginning of a great run.
Phil Foden (Manchester City)
Phil Foden showed us once again that he is one of the best talents out there when he's at his best. The English midfielder scored a brace against Borussia Dortmund, and might need to continue this form to return to the English International side.
Lamine Yamal (Barcelona)
When Barcelona needed someone to step up, it was none other than Lamine Yamal who stepped up and almost single-handedly saved them. His brace saved the club from suffering an embarrassing loss against Club Brugge in the Champions League.
Forwards
Carlos Forbs (Club Brugge)
The football history books and undoubtedly Club Brugge fans will forever remember the spectacular performance of 21 year old Carlos Forbs against Barcelona in the Champions League. He was involved in all 3 goals for his clubs, and denied the Catalans all 3 points in what would go down as a legendary performance.
