Indian women’s and men’s hockey teams started their respective Asian Games 2026 journeys with mammoth wins. On Sunday (20 September), while Indian women outperformed Uzbekistan by 19-0, defending champions Indian men thrashed Indonesia by 13-1.

In the India Women vs Uzbekistan Women match in Pool B, the Indian women completely dominated since their opening goal of the match in the seventh minute. While Lalremsiami scored the first goal, Deepika Sehrawat recorded eight goals (8’, 22’, 25’, 33’, 36’, 38’, 41’, and 54’). Ishika Chaudhary also scored a hat-trick (11’, 42’, and 54’), while Navneet Kaur (23’ and 45’) and Lalthantluangi (43’ and 51’) scored braces. Also, Baljeet Kaur (12’), Neha Goyal (18’), and Sakshi Rana (54’) added one goal each.
Out of 19 goals, India women recorded one goal from the penalty stroke and seven goals from penalty corners.
Indian women scored four goals in the first quarter, repeated it in the second quarter, added eight more goals in the third quarter, and finished with three goals in the final quarter.

Later, on the same day, Indian men thrashed Indonesian men by 13-1 in the Pool A fixture. After adding two goals in the first quarter, they hit five goals in the second quarter. After recording 3-1 in the third quarter, India men ended the game with another three goals in the final quarter.
Dilpreet Singh scored four goals (18’, 19’, 37’, and 49’), while Shilanand Lakra (6’ and 35’) and Sukhjeet Singh (38’ and 48’) scored two goals each. Also, Abhishek Nain (12’), Rajinder Singh (19’), Mandeep Singh (21’), Harmanpreet Singh (28’), and Jugraj Singh (46’) netted once each. In the third quarter, captain Aulia Al Ardh scored the only goal (33’) for Indonesia.
