Many young cricketers are inspired to take cricket as a profession because of IPL. For the selection in the Indian team performances in the IPL are closely monitored by the selectors. Over the years many foreign cricketers and some young Indian cricketers grabbed huge amounts of money through the IPL.

1. Pat Cummins

Sold for: ₹15.5 crore

Franchise: Kolkata Knight Riders

Aussie pacer Pat Cummins was picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders at a whooping price of 15.5 crore. He became the most expensive foreign signing in the history of the IPL, surpassing England all-rounder Ben Stokes.

In IPL 2017 stokes was signed by Rising Pune Supergiant at a price tag of 14.5 crore. Pat Cummins also became the second most expensive player in the history of IPL after Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi was signed by Delhi Daredevils at a jaw-dropping price of 16 crore in 2015.

It will be interesting to see how Pat Cummins performs in the upcoming IPL season with such a high amount of money under his belt.

 

2. Glenn Maxwell

Sold for: ₹10.75 crore

Franchise: Kings XI Punjab

 

Australia’s limited over specialist Glenn Maxwell turned out to be second most expensive buy for this year’s IPL. He was picked up by Kings XI Punjab for a whopping 10.75 crore.

Maxwell recently took a break from international cricket because of his mental health issues. Maxwell previously represented Kings XI Punjab from 2014 to 2017. He played a huge role when Punjab emerged as a runner up in 2014 IPL season.

Kings XI Punjab team management will be hoping for some stellar performances from this hard hitting batsman.

 

3. Chris Morris

Sold for: ₹10 crore

Franchise: Royal Challengers Bangalore

 

Chris Morris is the third most expensive player in this year’s IPL. Proteas speedster was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore at a big sum of 10 crore. He is also known for his hard hitting batting skills in the slog overs.

He didn’t had a good outing in Mzansi Super League. He managed to pick only 10 wickets from 11 games at an economy of 8.20 and scored 122 runs at a strike-rate of 176.

RCB team management will be hoping for a good performance from him.

 

4. Sheldon Cottrell

Sold for: ₹8.5 crore

Franchise: Kings XI Punjab

 

Sheldon Cottrell- a West Indies pacer was signed by Kings XI Punjab at a jaw-dropping price of 8.5 crore. He will be playing his first IPL season this year. He is known for his famous salute celebration after taking a wicket.

Playing for West Indies he has taken 36 wickets in 27 T-20 matches at an economy of 7.84. It will be interesting to see how he performs for Kings XI Punjab in the upcoming IPL season.

 

5. Nathan Coulter-Nile

Sold for: ₹8 crore

Franchise: Mumbai Indians

 

Nathan Coulter-Nile an Aussie pacer was picked up by Mumbai Indians at a whopping price of 8 crore. He is returning to Mumbai Indians after a gap of 6 years.

In the past editions he played for Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Let’s see how he performs in the upcoming IPL season.
