The Indian women's kabaddi team extended its gold-medal record at the Asian Games by winning its fourth gold medal after beating Iran in the thrilling final of the Asian Games 2026. It was India's third gold medal at the Asian Games 2026. Earlier, the Indian women's cricket team and Indian mixed 10m air pistol team won gold medals at the ongoing Asian Games.
While the defending champions India women majorly dominated at the entire Asian Games 2026, the final was a complete thriller against the 2018 gold medalist Iran women.
At the end of the first half, India were leading by 22-16. Although Iran fought hard in the second half, where they managed to lead with 15-18, India ultimately won with the final scoreline of 37-34.
Iran managed eight bonuses, including seven in the first half, while India recorded a total of six bonuses. While India recorded two all-outs in the first half, Iran matched that in the second half. Iran were also in the upper hand in super tackle records, which they managed three times against India’s once. However, India managed to earn two technical points, while conceding none, and those played important roles in the marginal victory in the gold medal battle.
After winning the gold medals in 2010 and 2014, India women won the gold medal in 2022 and 2026, while Iran women were the only other team to win an Asian Games gold medal in the women’s kabaddi event when they beat India in the 2018 Final.
