Defending champions India are hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 along with the co-hosts Sri Lanka. As expected, the Men in Blue performed dominantly in the group stage of the tournament, as they are ready for the Super Eight challenge of the tournament.
India were in the Group A of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with Pakistan, the Netherlands, Namibia, and the United States of America. Apart from the match against Pakistan, which R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo in Sri Lanka hosted on 15th February, India played all other group stage matches in India.
In all group stage matches of the tournament, India batted first whether they won the toss or not. Starting the competition with a 29-run win against the United States of America by successfully defending 161 runs, India thrashed Namibia by 93 runs (defended 209 runs) and defeated Pakistan by 61 runs (defended 175), respectively. In their last group stage game, India beat the Netherlands by 17 runs after scoring 193/6.
In the Super Eight stage, India will compete in Group 1, where their challenges will be from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and the West Indies. All the Group 1 matches will be played in India, as the hosts and defending champions India will play all their Super Eight stage matches at home.
Every remaining team is now focusing on the Super Eight stage, where the top two teams from each group will qualify for the knockout stages, the semi-final.
