NXT Stand and Deliver will be the next Takeover event that NXT will have and it will be the biggest NXT event in the last 4+ years. Ever since February 2020, NXT has not had a show in an arena with more than 10,000+ seats filled to capacity. The closing of NXT Vengeance Day 2024 saw Carmelo Hayes beat up Trick Williams in a heel turn which the fans saw coming but were still heartbroken to see in front of their eyes. It was the NXT Championship Match between Ilja Dragunov vs Trick Williams and it was an absolute banger and the match of the year so far. Ilja Dragunov won the match and after that Carmelo Hayes turned heel and beat up Trick Williams badly. The crowd booed Melo out of the building and there was silence from a part of the WWE universe because they were in shock. This was done very well and now the main event of NXT Stand and Deliver is set.
There can be no other match that could main event the biggest NXT show of the year over this one. This has been a story which has been months in the making and these 2 men have carried the new NXT brand on their backs. Carmelo Hayes has been the best NXT wrestler and Trick Williams has seen the biggest rise out of anybody. For the last few months, Carmelo Hayes has been jealous of Trick Williams and his success and how he has become more popular than Carmelo Hayes. He has been getting the big matches and the fans have cheered him the loudest. Carmelo Hayes could not fathom that his sidekick has overshadowed him and become the top star. Melo has tried to cause problems for Trick Williams for months and he was unsuccessful.
Finally after months of waiting the moment came and he made the most of it. He let Trick Williams know how he felt and it was the official start for the Road to NXT Stand and Deliver. There will be more amazing matches in the show but not one other match will have the emotional investment and storytelling that this one will have. This will be like this era’s Tomasso Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano. To reach those levels will be extremely difficult but they can do it. Shawn Michaels needs to build this feud for the next 2 months and come up with innovative ideas. The fans are invested but it is the job of all involved to make Carmelo Hayes the most hated man and Trick Williams the most loved. More than 10,000 fans will sell out the arena in Philadelphia for this one.
