The Intercontinental Championship has become prestigious again

The Intercontinental Championship was on the line in Mexico City. It was local hero Dragon Lee against babyface champion Chad Gable. There was a moment of respect before the bell rang. Once the match started, Dragon Lee started at a fast pace which was difficult to get Chad Gable to keep up with. Dragon Lee hit a Suicide Dive to the floor. Chad Gable hit an Exploder Suplex, then hit the German Suplex on his challenger. Chad Gable was put on top of the announce table, and Dragon Lee did his spectacular dive through Chad Gable.

The crowd lost their minds. This was a 16-minute match for the Intercontinental Championship. Chad Gable hit the second rope of the Olympic Slam, and after that, both wrestlers were hitting each other with punches and Superkicks. The fans were cheering more for Dragon Lee. Chad Gable hit a Sit Out Powerbomb for a near 2 count. Dragon Lee hit the Operation Dragon, but Chad Gable kicked out. Dragon Lee tried to hit the Styles Clash; big Chad Gable countered it into the Ankle Lock, and the fans were egging on Dragon Lee, who got out.

Dragon Lee hit another Operation Dragon, and still Chad Gable kicked out. The Challenger had hit his best shot twice, but it was not enough. The match was reaching its closing stages, and anyone could win the title. Chad Gable was on the ropes, and he applied the Ankle Lock once again, but this time Dragon Lee was unable to get out of the submission. He eventually tapped out, and Chad Gable retained his title. This was an incredible 5-star classic, and this raised the prestige of the Intercontinental Championship. Dragon Lee proved that he can still be in the title matches and one day eventually become the Intercontinental Champion.
