It is curious to think but the number 1 heel in WWE does not have an opponent for WrestleMania 42 yet. He has had the best 6 months of his career in WWE where he has retired Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles. One would assume that the Ring General would have someone big to Fight at WrestleMania 42. Since there are multiple WWE superstars who could face Gunther at WrestleMania, it could be a fun time. The show will take place on 18th and 19th April 2026..

Rey Mysterio
Gunther has been going after the Lucha wrestlers after retiring AJ Styles. He has beaten the heck out of Dragon Lee and he even took out the mask of Dragon Lee. The mask is sacrosanct for the Mexican wrestlers and Rey Mysterio is the greatest Luchador Wrestler of all time. He would have taken serious offence to the actions of Gunther and he would want payback on behalf of Dragon Lee and all the others. Rey Mysterio has not had a meaningful WrestleMania match after the one against Dominik Mysterio. This would be a great mashup of styles. Brock Lesnar
Brock Lesnar has laid out an open challenge for WrestleMania 42. Gunther has recently said that he would like to retire Brock Lesnar because he feels Brock Lesnar has overstayed his welcome in WWE. However, Brock Lesnar is still one of the most powerful men in WWE even at the age of 48. Gunther would have to wrestle out of his skin to beat Brock Lesnar. This would be a test for Brock as well to see if he can hang with the best wrestler in the world. The fans would love to see these two monsters go at it. It would be a chop fest and Suplex city at the same time.
Penta
Penta has won the Intercontinental Championship recently on Raw. Gunther would take a brand new interest in Penta and he would like to win back the Intercontinental Championship once again. Penta is also one of the best Luchador Wrestlers in the world and he would also not take kindly to Gunther taking out the mask of Dragon Lee. Penta is one of the most over babyfaces in WWE and this would be a big first WrestleMania match. Gunther can have a Banger against Penta and one of the best matches of WrestleMania 42.
Finn Balor
This is a wild card choice but Finn Balor is slowly turning babyface and this is a dream match that has not yet happened in WWE. Finn Balor is eager to show why he is considered one of the best of all time. Gunther is the best currently and these two men can have a good feud leading into WrestleMania 42. Dominik Mysterio is also feuding with Finn Balor and he can aid Gunther in taking down his rival. Dominik Mysterio is a coward heel so him trying to convince Gunther to take down Finn Balor makes a lot of sense.
Oba Femi
This is the present vs The future. Gunther has physically dominated everyone he has stepped in the ring with. However Oba Femi is the future of WWE and he is more physically intimidating than Gunther. Gunther would not take Oba Femi lightly and Gunther would be the physically inferior wrestler. It would be interesting to see how Gunther adapts to this situation. Oba Femi will have the biggest match of his life and he would not be overawed by the occasion. WrestleMania 42 could be one of the best shows of the last 10 years.
