WWE SummerSlam 2025 was one of the best WWE PPVs of the year. It was also the PPV that justified the 2 night format for WWE SummerSlam. This show was everything WrestleMania 41 was supposed to be. There were some very shocking moments that took place across both nights. Triple H wanted to show the world what WWE is all about. There were more than 113,000 fans at the shows at the stadium.

Brock Lesnar Returns to WWE
There is no doubt that the most shocking moment from SummerSlam this year was the return of Brock Lesnar to WWE. Nobody had expected this to happen and there were no reports across the various news sites that cover professional wrestling. John Cena was about to leave after getting Thank You Cena chants but then the Guitar riff played and the 60,000+ plus that were there in the stadium lost their minds. Michael Cole had no idea that this was going to happen as he openly cussed on the air. The reactions from the various streamers on Instagram were absolutely amazing to see. The Beast has returned and John Cena is his next target. This was easily the most shocking WWE moment since the return of CM Punk at Survivor series in 2023.
Seth Rollins with the Ruse of the Century
The most shocking moment from Saturday was the stuff that happened with Seth Rollins. CM Punk and Gunther had an absolute Banger of a match where CM Punk finally won the World Heavyweight Championship after 12 years. He was emotional and then Seth Rollins came out in crutches and everyone thought that he had come to give a warning to CM Punk. However as Seth was walking to the back, he stopped and then those crutches were thrown to the ground and Seth Rollins was running to the ring and he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract and became the new World Heavyweight Champion. This was so perfectly done that it caught everyone by surprise and the smart wrestling fans were worked by Seth Rollins and WWE. This was absolutely phenomenal and it gives CM Punk a path to redemption.
Cody Rhodes beat John Cena clean for WWE Championship
The fact that Cody Rhodes beat John Cena at SummerSlam was not that shocking but the fact that there were absolutely no interruptions during the absolutely incredible 38 minutes match was shocking. The fans had expected to see maybe Travis Scott or The Rock to intervene and help John Cena. However John Cena became Super Cena and remained a babyface. The match ultimately became one of the very best SummerSlam Matches of all time. This was a welcome shock for all the fans watching. And Cody Rhodes became the Quarterback of WWE once again and John Cena has his next feud against the returning Brock Lesnar.
Becky Lynch retained the Women’s Intercontinental Championship
This was a match that was seen as the crowning of Lyra Valkyria as the champion and to set her up to be a long champion. This feud was built around Becky Lynch being the veteran and she would use her star power to elevate Lyra Valkyria which she did to a huge extent. This match was very good but the finish to this match was shocking. The WWE fans did not expect Becky Lynch to retain the title and especially with the inadvertent help of Bayley. Lyra Valkyria will seemingly go into a feud against Bayley and Becky Lynch will feud with Nikki Bella as was seen in the latest episode of Raw.
Randy Orton and Jelly Roll lost
Everyone who had predicted the Matches for WWE SummerSlam had picked Randy Orton and Jelly Roll to win the match. Jelly Roll is a big celebrity and whenever big stars come to WWE for a match they always win. It has always happened like with Bad Bunny or Logan Paul. Jelly Roll took the most punishment in the match including a Frog splash through the table. The fans expected Jelly Roll to bounce back and win the match for his team. However not only did Randy Orton and Jelly Roll lose the match but it was Jelly Roll that took the pin. This was something that nobody had expected.
