Sher-e-Punjab Yuvraj Singh has been in the limelight since his debut with his new franchise Mumbai Indians. The veteran southpaw has had his best start in the history of IPL this year and the whole nation is rallying behind him to capitalize on this start to break into the national side. After defeating cancer Yuvraj never seemed like his old self but it seems like he has finally found his foot and is eager to fire.

When this season of the IPL started not many expected him to start for Mumbai but he not only was in the playing 11 but also went on to play a gritty knock of 53 runs off 35 balls when his teammates struggled to score. The innings which consisted of 5 fours and 3 sixes was more or else a vintage Yuvi inning making everyone believe in him again. He followed it up with a quick-fire 23 off 12 balls which saw a hat trick of sixes against Chahal.

Even when the Sixer King was in his prime at the International level he never seemed to have clicked in the IPL, except the odd innings or two where he fired, but this year it seems will be a different story. Although it is too early to say something but one can clearly notice the exquisite timing and fluency in Yuvi’s batting. After having a disastrous season in 2018, where he scored only 65 runs in 8 matches, Yuvraj has worked a lot on his fitness and his batting, especially his bat speed. Moreover with the Little Master guiding him the chances of Yuvraj’s resurrection in IPL 2019 goes skyrocketing.

Is there still any place for Yuvraj in the National Team? This is the question in every Indians mind at the moment and we think the answer is YES. Although a spot in the one day World Cup squad is out of reach for him but he may come in handy for the T20 World Cup which is coming up. It might seem too far fetched to talk of the T20 World Cup now but not futile. The Indian team has quite some holes to fill up before the World Cup and the middle order muddle is the biggest one. With an experienced and firing Yuvraj in the team, a lot of the management’s headaches would be solved.

Having read this far many would wonder why are we discussing so extensively about Yuvraj Singh while a major part of the tournament is still to happen. Well, the answer is simple, the cricket fan in us is deeply hurt by Yuvraj’s downfall owing to cancer and we all want him to fight back as he did against cancer and show the World what a fighter he is. Moreover, India at this stage need a dependable middle-order batsman and the experienced and in form, Yuvi will be the best choice. At this moment every Indian would happily see their favourite franchise lose if it is Yuvraj Singh who is doing the damage.
