Preeti Pawar Gold Medal in Women's 54kg Boxing at CWG 2026

Indian boxer Preeti Pawar won the gold medal in the women’s 54kg boxing event on Saturday (1st August) at the Commonwealth Games 2026. It was the first gold medal from boxing at Glasgow 2026. 


Preeti Pawar dominated CWG 2026 Final

In the Final, Preeti Pawar faced Canadian Scarlett Savannah Delgado. Although the Canadian had a bright start, the Indian boxer controlled the early moments to dominate the gold medal match. 


After winning the first round by 5-0, as all five judges were convinced by the Indian dominance, the story remained the same in the second and final rounds, as India successfully clinched the gold medal. 


Preeti earned a bye and started from the Round of 16, where she knocked out Malawi boxer Deborah Mtenje. Then she dominantly defeated Nicole Clyde (Northern Ireland) and Catherine Mwape (Zambia) in the Quarterfinal and Semifinal, respectively, before continuing her dominance in the Final.

Preeti comes from an athletic family, while her uncle was a boxer who introduced her to the sport. The Indian CWG 2026 gold medalist is a Naib Subedar in the Indian Army. She previously won a bronze medal in the Asian Games 2022 and the World Boxing Cup 2025.
