After suffering the heaviest defeat in their tournament history in the Euro 2024 opener, Scotland thought they had a ray of hope when Scott Mctominay gave them the lead against Switzerland in the second group stage game. Hungary’s situation is more critical as they have lost the opening two games of the group stage. After a 3-1 loss to Switzerland, the Magyars went down 2-0 to hosts Germany despite putting up a good fight, especially in the first half. Marco Rossi's side collected only one win in their last 17 major tournament games and none in the previous eight games at the Euros. Failing to win against Scotland in the final group game would equal the record run for games without a victory. Hungary has no chance of finishing the top two and has only the third place to fight for. Even if they triumph in the final group game, three points might not be enough to see them through. A loss will stamp their elimination from the contest. While Hungary pips Scotland with four wins to three, the 27th-ranked nation is under pressure in the first competitive outing between the pair.
