A new transfer report has claimed that Arsenal are one of the top clubs looking to sign Bayern Munich's Leon Goretzka in the summer as a free agent. They have also mentioned that Arsenal hold a major advantage over other top clubs such as Atlético Madrid, AC Milan, and Juventus in signing the player.
Leon Goretzka has made a total of 28 appearances for Bayern Munich this season so far, and is an important player of Vincent Kompany's side. The German midfielder has been a part of Bayern since 2018, winning a total of 15 titles including 6 Bundesliga triumphs and a Champions League.
New report claims Arsenal have Major advance over other clubs in signing Bayern's Leon Goretzka once he becomes a free agent
A report from the mirror states that Arsenal are one of several clubs considering a free transfer for Leon Goretzka this summer after their January approach was rejected by Bayern Munich. With his contract expiring in June, the midfielder is now available, attracting interest from Atlético Madrid, Napoli and Juventus. The major highlight of the report is the fact that Goretzka is apparently keen on a move to the Premier League, which puts Arsenal in a strong position in the race for his signature.
There were also previous reports that Arsenal were interested in signing Leon Goretzka before the January Transfer Window Deadline due to Mikel Merino's injury, but a deal did not materialize. Based on the new report from the mirror, it does look like Mikel Arteta and Arsenal are seriously interested in bringing the Bayern Munich star to England.
Our opinion on Arsenal's interest in Leon Goretzka
Arsenal and Mikel Arteta clearly look to be on a mission to build the best "squad" in world football. They already boast of arguably the best Premier League squad in terms of depth, and adding Goretzka into that will only make them even better.
Goretzka will also add an element of leadership and maturity to the Arsenal that's sure to further strengthen. The presence of Kai Havertz, Goretzka's international teammate, also means the German won't find it much difficult to find himself comfortable in London. Overall, this would be a great move for both parties if it ends up happening.
