Chelsea have one of the most exciting squads in world football, as it is filled with lots of young superstars who have huge potential to become one of the biggest stars in world football after a few years. However, they also have a lot of players who are simply not good enough, and some who were initially quite promising, but unable to reach their expected potential. Additionally, there are a few whose careers have been severely affected due to injuries. These are the players we'll mention below, as Chelsea will need to sell them in the summer for the betterment of their club.
Liam Delap
Most of the clubs in the Premier League wanted to sign Liam Delap last summer, as he was viewed as one of the most promising English strikers at the time and was available for a fee of just £30 million. Chelsea won his signature in the end, and the belief was that they could sign a highly promising player for a bargain fee. However, the move to such a big club has clearly been too early for Delap, who's been terrible for the Blues in his debut season. It's better for both parties to go their separate ways.
Nicolas Jackson
There's yet another striker that Chelsea need to get rid off, and most fans don't even remember that he'll technically still be a part of the club. The player is Nicolas Jackson, who's currently on loan at Bayern. Jackson forced his loan move to Bayern last summer by burning his bridges with Chelsea, but it now looks unlikely the Bavarians will make the deal permanent. Hence, he'll return to Chelsea, but they both must now find another solution as Jackson will probably never play for Chelsea again, and nor does he have the required quality for it.
Roméo Lavia
There are many players in football history who have world-class potential in them, but sadly had their careers ruined due to recurring injury issues. Roméo Lavia is one such player. The sad thing is that we genuinely believe Chelsea would've been one of the most fearsome teams in world football if not for his injury, as a midfield trio of Lavia, Caicedo, and Enzo Fernandez would've been a match made in heaven. This will be a sad sale, but one Chelsea simply needs to do.
Robert Sanchez
It is an absolute shocker that Robert Sanchez is still at Chelsea. The number of errors he has made and games that he cost the Blues would be unforgivable at any other big club. Chelsea, who have spent billions on dozens of players, have made massive errors by neglecting the goalkeeping position for the past few years. They cannot afford to do it again in the upcoming summer transfer window, as they must sell Sanchez and get a new shotstopper.
Wesley Fofana
£70 million was the fee that Chelsea paid to Leicester City for Wesley Fofana in 2022. One would expect such an expensive player to have an effect similar to what Virgil Van Dijk has had for Liverpool, but instead Fofana has arguably had even less of an impact than the Chelsea ball boys. The French defender has been shockingly injury-prone during the majority of his Chelsea career, and has been just average whenever he plays as well. This is one of the worst deals in Chelsea's history, and they better get rid of him to at least save their wages.
