India earned two medals in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event at the Asian Games 2026, while the Chinese star Sheng Lihao broke his own Asian record to claim a gold medal.
Chinese star shooter Sheng Lihao scored 254.2 to set an Asian record that set the gold medal. He previously held the Asian Games record as well as the Asian record with a total score of 253.3 in 2023.
Indian shooters Himanshu Dhilon (252.4) and Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil (230.9) won silver and bronze medals, respectively. The top three finishers had close battles, especially in the middle series, as Lihao was in the third position at the end of Series 1 of Stage 2, while Rudrankksh led the battle till the Series 2 of Stage 2. Himanshu (231.0) just managed to beat Rudrankksh (230.9) before the final series to secure one of the top two medals and finally finished with the silver, as the Chinese shooter claimed the gold with a comfortable ending.

Who is Himanshu Dhilon?
The 20-year-old Himanshu Dhilon was a wrestler before taking up the sports shooting role. In the ISSF Junior World Cup in 2025, he won two gold medals and one bronze.
Who is Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil?
Before taking up shooting, Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil also played chess and football. In the Asian Games 2022, he won a gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle individual event.
In the ISSF World Shooting Championships 2022, Rudrankksh became the second Indian, after Abhinav Bindra (2006), to become world champion. In that event, he won gold medals in the individual and team events.
