Best Matches from WWE SummerSlam 2025

WWE SummerSlam 2025 had 12 Matches on the card and overall this was a show that had some bangers. The WWE superstars were motivated to go the extra mile and make the first 2 night SummerSlam an event for the ages. There were some matches that were in contention for WWE Match of the Year. Both the men and the women did very well across the 2 nights.

Let’s look at the Top 5 Matches from WWE SummerSlam 2025

1) John Cena vs Cody Rhodes for WWE Championship

This was the easiest ranking in this list. The WWE Championship Match between John Cena vs Cody Rhodes was one of the best WWE Matches of the last 10 years. This was the match that was the redemption from WrestleMania 41. These 2 men went 38 minutes and John Cena was the old John Cena from 2016. He was a pure babyface and he was Super Cena. Cody Rhodes had an awesome entrance motivated by the words of his father Dusty Rhodes. This match had everything, there were brutal spots like John Cena giving the AA through the announce table. Cody Rhodes gave John Cena a suplex on a metal rod. John Cena hit 6 AAs but Cody Rhodes kicked out all of them. Cody Rhodes hit 5 Cross Rhodes and John Cena kicked out all of them. John Cena went to the top rope and gave a leg drop. Cody Rhodes gave multiple Cody cutters and Disaster kicks. The ending of the match was poetic as Cody Rhodes gave a final salute to John Cena and he won the WWE Championship for the second time.

2) The Six Team TLC Match for WWE Tag Team Championship

At number 2 is a match that had very high hopes going into it. The fans were expecting a Banger and what they got was something truly special. This match had some insane spots like Candice Lerae going through a ladder from the top of a ladder in the ring. Axiom giving a Spanish fly to Angelo Dawkins. Rey Fenix gave a Frog splash from the top rope through a table to Montez Ford. Uncle Howdy was given a Powerbomb through a ladder. DIY were thrown outside the ring through 4 tables set up on top of each other. There was a spot where Tomasso Ciampa was dangling with the tag titles and Nathan Frazer tried to do a Spear but Ciampa ducked and Nathan Frazer dropped to the ground. This was 16 minutes of pure tag team brilliance and the SmackDown tag team division is the best in wrestling.

3) Gunther vs CM Punk for World Heavyweight Championship

The main event from Night 1 is number 3 in this list. The match between Gunther vs CM Punk was absolutely phenomenal. They went at it for 30 minutes and these 2 men raised the prestige of the title. Gunther was dominant as he hit CM Punk with chops and he gave Powerbombs and splashes but was unable to beat CM Punk. CM Punk was at his best as he gave multiple knees to the face. He applied the sharp shooter on Gunther. It looked like Gunther was about to win and CM Punk made him bleed. At the end CM Punk hit Gunther with 2 GTS and he won the World Heavyweight Championship. It was professional wrestling at its best. Gunther suffered a nose injury and will be out for a few months. This main event did justice to the talents that these two men have and the aftermath of this match capped off night 1 perfectly.

4) Naomi vs Rhea Ripley vs Iyo Sky for Women’s World Championship

The opening match from night 2 is number 4 in this list. It was the triple threat match between Naomi who was the champion and she was taking on Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky. This match was very fast paced as all 3 women had the momentum from time to time. Naomi was dominant during the first portion of the match where she was hitting both Rhea and Iyo Sky with Lethal knee strikes and she showed that she belonged against Rhea and Iyo Sky. They wrestled for 16 minutes and Rhea and Iyo also had great moments as Iyo hit the Springboard Dropkick. Rhea Ripley hit the Avalanche Riptide on Iyo Sky but Naomi took advantage and pinned Rhea Ripley. This was a fantastic match and it continues the feud and Rhea Ripley has still not beaten Iyo Sky in WWE.

5) Roman Reigns and Jey Uso vs Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed

This is the only match in this list that was not for a title. This was the first match of Night 1 of SummerSlam Saturday and it was the perfect opener. Jey Uso and Roman Reigns had big entrances. This was a very fun 22 minute match. Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed showed their power as they hit Suicide dives and Bron Breakker hit a vicious spear on Roman Reigns. Roman Reigns did a move where he leaped over the top rope and he almost hit his head but he was able to land on his back. Jey Uso did the Yeet again during the match. Roman Reigns hit a number of Superman punches to Bron Breakker and he even speared Bron Breakker into the barricade. To end the match Jey Uso hit the Spear and the Splash to get the win.
