Roman Reigns a.k.a. the big dog is perhaps the most talked about superstar in WWE. He is the only superstar in WWE apart from Brock Lesnar to defeat the Undertaker at WrestleMania. However, this achievement of his did not go well with the WWE Universe and he received a lot of flak.
Since then, WWE has been trying really hard to project Reigns as the baby-face of WWE and it has been openly disregarded by the WWE Universe.
Reigns was a fan favorite when he made his debut as a part of the Shield. The way he used to deliver power-bombs were well received by the crowd. The trio was the most dominant force in WWE ever. However, ever since he stepped into the single's competition, he couldn't live up to the expectations of the people. His signature move- superman punch, is made fun of by the crowd. People boo him and troll him for his weak promo-delivering skills.
Reigns also entered into a rivalry with Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman. In both the cases, he was portrayed as a face, but in either case, he got negative reactions from the crowd. Even when he emerged victoriously, the crowd was chanting his opponent's name. The story-line he puts forth is very pedestrian and nothing exemplary to glorify him. In fact, WWE should try and utilize him as a heel or a villain.
Reigns can become an excellent villain. When the Shield made its debut, three of them were depicted as a heel, and the fans loved to see that. His spear was celebrated by the audience when he used to take down several legends inside the ring. WWE should alter his personality that he is not the face WWE wants. They are putting his career in jeopardy.
Roman Reigns is currently feuding with Jinder Mahal. The hilarious part is, Mahal, being a heel is getting way more cheers and crowd reactions than Roman Reigns. Reigns should learn from Mahal how to make use of opportunities. Mahal was nobody a couple of years back and now his career is at the peak. However, the scenario is just opposite with Roman Reigns.
If WWE still wants to depict him as a face, then they should do what they did with Daniel Bryan. Bryan being the ultimate underdog is the ultimate sensation of WWE. He has hypnotized the entire WWE Universe across the globe with his 'YES' chants. If Roman can work on improving his skills and develop similar attributes as Bryan, the WWE Universe would fall for him again.
Therefore, instead of experimenting with his career, WWE should put him away from main-event matches and build a fresh new plot for him. This would help put aside the anti-incumbency and project a new fresh Roman Reigns to the whole world whom the world would love.
No Offense to the Roman Reigns and his fans.
