Sandeep Lamichhane Breaks Brett Lee's Record Of Most Consecutive ODI Innings With Wicket

Nepal star cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane recently broke former Australian right-arm fast bowler Brett Lee’s prestigious record of most consecutive ODI innings with at least one wicket.   

Since April 2011, Brett Lee was holding the record for most consecutive ODI innings with at least one wicket as he maintained that in 26 straight ODIs.

In the recently concluded ODI tri-series in UAE (United Arab Emirates, Papua New Guinea and Nepal), a part of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2, the 22-year-old Nepal cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane broke the former Australian fast bowler’s record by maintaining 27 straight ODI innings with at least one wicket.

It was the match between the hosts UAE and Nepal at Dubai, DSC (scheduled on 6 March 2023). Nepal won that game by 42 runs (Nepal 229/8; UAE 187), where the young Nepalese leg-spinner Lamichhane had the bowling figures 10-0-52-1. Since 12 February 2020, it was the 27th consecutive ODI innings for him with at least one wicket.

Sandeep Lamichhane started this journey with an ODI six-wicket haul

To achieve this record, Lamichhane’s journey started with the incredible bowling figures of 6-1-16-6 against the USA at Kirtipur on 12 February 2020.  

Lamichhane, who has taken 87 wickets in only 37 ODIs, has bagged 70 of those in the last 27 ODI innings. The leg-spinner is always busy proving himself as one of the best spinners in this generation.
