The 18-year-old Chinese Yan Ziyi claimed her first Diamond League title by winning the women’s javelin throw with a meet record in the 2026 Diamond League Final in Brussels on Saturday (5th September).
Yan bettered the previous meet record, held by American Kara Winger with a 68.11m throw in 2022, as her 68.42m throw on her fifth attempt secured China’s second title in the 2026 Diamond League.
Japanese Haruka Kitaguchi earned second place with her season-best throw, 65.44m. Colombian Flor Ruiz claimed the third spot with a 64.07 m throw.

Who is Yan Ziyi?
Chinese teenager Yan Ziyi claimed her first Diamond League title. Her crown is no shocker, as she dominated the 2026 Diamond League season, winning four out of five events before the Final. In the World Athletics U20 Championships, Yan won the gold medal in the women’s javelin throw.
