The failed experiments with the bat for Team India in the West Indies ODI Series

The first 2 ODIs in the series vs West Indies have exposed the Failed Experiments with the bat for Team India and how lightly they have taken this Series and it has cost them dearly. In the first 2 ODIs Team India have not batted 50 overs in both the matches. In the matches Team India did not play with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and all this was exposed.

So, let’s talk about the failed batting experiments in the first 2 ODIs:

1st ODI

India bowled out West Indies for 114 runs in the 1st ODI and the Bowlers gave an incredible performance and Ravindra Jadeja took 3 Wickets In that innings and Kuldeep Yadav only bowled 3 overs and he took 4 Wickets for just 6 runs. And it was expected that India would chase these runs easily but here came the first batting experiment as Rohit Sharma did not open the batting for India as Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan opened for India and Ishan Kishan made a 46 ball 52. Shubman Gill got out after making 7 runs and then the batting order was changed as Virat Kohli did not come out to bat and Surya Kumar Yadav came to bat at number 3 and he was looking good but he only Scored 19 runs in 25 balls before getting out. Then Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur also got out cheaply as they made 5 runs and 1 run respectively. Ravindra Jadeja made 16 not out and Rohit Sharma batted at number 7 and made 12* and India won this match by 5 wickets but in reality they should have won by 9 Wickets at the very minimum. This match was a loss even in victory.

2nd ODI

This is the match where all hell broke loose. India batted first in this match and Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan gave a very good start as they had a 90 run partnership and yet again Ishan Kishan made a good 55 runs and he was the only batter who made the most of his opportunities as he made half centuries in both innings. Shubman Gill made 34 and then the brain fade started as Sanju Samson came in at number 3 and this was the golden chance for Sanju Samson to make an impact but he got out after scoring only 9 from 19 balls. Then Axar Patel was sent at number 4 in the most dumb founding move of this series and he could not do much either as he got out for 1 run and Hardik Pandya continued his bad form with yet another 7 runs. Surya Kumar Yadav Batted at number 6 and he made 25 and then Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur batted a bit to take India to 181 all out so from 90-0 to 181 all out. And India lost this match by 6 Wickets as Shai Hope and Keacy Carty played Brilliantly as they made 63* and 48* respectively and West Indies made this total with 14 overs to spare.

This is one of the most shameful defeats for Team India and now in the third ODI, they should play with the same team and let these Young players have another chance to correct themselves. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma should rest now till the Asia Cup.
