Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 23 Top Picks

It's time for the exciting gameweek 23 for the Fantasy Premier League 2024/25 players. This week has some interesting games, including the big face-off between Manchester City and Chelsea.

Goalkeepers

Just like Nottingham Forest’s defenders, goalie Matz Sels is leading the points table of the goalkeepers with 98 points. Meanwhile, Everton’s Jordan Pickford (90 points) and Arsenal’s David Raya (81 points) are also the strong names.

Meanwhile, as per the low fixture difficulty ratings, Liverpool’s Alisson Becker (57 points) and Newcastle’s Martin Dúbravka (39 points) are the important names of this week as they will face Ipswich Town and Southampton, respectively.

Defenders

In the FPL, defenders are always critical in the points. Nottingham Forest’s Ola Aina (101 points) is the first defender this FPL season to reach three-digit points. Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold (96 points), Newcastle’s Lewis Hall (89 points), Forest’s another defender Nikola Milenković (86 points), and Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhães (85 points) are some other big names in this list.

While Liverpool have a strong fixture against Ipswich Town at home, Trent Alexander-Arnold and his partner Virgil van Dijk (83 points) can bring some useful points. Newcastle defenders are also strong options as they will face the hosts Southampton.

Midfielders

There is no need to panic about the FPL 2024/25 points table leader Mohamed Salah from Liverpool (214 FPL points), who failed to bring in attacking points in the last two PL matches. He scored in the last game where they beat Lille 2-1 in the UCL league stage.

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer (165 points) and Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo (140 points) are the other in-form names, but both missed out on attacking returns in their last game, which was the second consecutive match for Mbeumo. Bournemouth’s Justin Kluivert (108 points) scored his second hat-trick this PL season in the last game.

Kluivert is now a top-budget name under the value of £6.0m. The other top names in this budget are Fulham’s Alex Iwobi (103 points), Manchester United’s Amad Diallo (102 points), Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers (95 points), etc.

Forwards

Man City Erling Haaland scored four goals in the last four games with only one zero-attacking return. While he has 131 FPL points, the top two players in this list have cheaper values, as Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Nottingham Forest’s Chris Wood have 137 and 135 FPL points, respectively. Wood made attacking returns in the last four games with a record of four goals and two assists. However, after managing attacking returns in eight straight matches (11 goals and 3 assists), Isak missed out on attacking returns in the last game.

Wolves’ Matheus Cunha (114 points), Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins (110 points), and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson (102 points) have also recorded 100+ FPL points this season, and Watkins is the man in form among them with three goals and one assist in the last four matches with only one zero-attacking return.

In the budget under £6.3m, the top in-form players are Brentford’s Yoane Wissa, Fulham’s Raúl Jiménez, and Ipswich’s Liam Delap.
