wales vs denmark dream11 team prediction match preview lineups uefa euro 2020 round of 16

The first round of 16 clash for the UEFA Euro 2020 will be at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam between Group A runners up Wales and second placed Denmark from Group B. Both sides contain equal quality on the pitch and it will be a fun watch for the viewers.

Wales are in their second consecutive knockout stages for the Euros after doing a great business this time out too. Robert Page's men played a opening day draw against Switzerland before putting Turkey to bed in a massive performance by a 2-0 scoreline. Even though they lost to Italy in their last group game, Wales accumulated enough points to be in this stage of the tournament.

Denmark's tale of escaping the group stage will ring around for sometime now for so many reasons. The most emotional one should be Christian Eriksen collapsing on the pitch in the game against Finland and the Dane losing the game after a lengthy delay due to the medical emergency. Those emotions dragged on to the next game that Denmark lost again but pushed Belgium to their limit by taking an early lead in the fixture. Their faith didn't repeated against Russia though for the Danish dynamites exploded in a 4-1 victory and a subsequent Finland loss insured their path to the last 16.

Wales vs Denmark Head to Head

Wales and Denmark have locked horns a total of 10 times in the past. Denmark have clearly outshined Wales with 6 victories to their name including triumphing home and away in the 2018/19 Nations League campaign. The Danes had also won their last three competitive meetings with the Dragons. Wales's last victory came in an international friendly back in 2008. None of the games have resulted in a draw

WAL vs DEN Dream11 Fantasy Team :

GK: Danny Ward (Wal)

DEF: Daniel Wass (Den), Andreas Christensen (Den), Simon Kjaer (Den), Ben Davies (Wal)

MID: Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (Den), Aaron Ramsey (Wal), Joe Morrell (Wal)

FW: Gareth Bale (Wal), Yussuf Poulsen (Den), Mikkel Damsgaard (Den)

Goalkeeper Danny Ward has shown his command in between the post for Wales and he is part of the reason the nation is in the last 16 stages of the competition. The Dragons' number one gets the nod ahead of Kasper Schmeichel. The center-back pairing of Christensen and Kjaer for Denmark has been impressive in the past two games. Daniel Wass's wing-back position brought about a difference in the style of play for Hjulmand's men so he is someone to watch out for. Pierre- Emile Hojbjerg is having a sensational Euro campaign so far and his two assists against Russia proved decisive enough to lift Denmark to the latter stages. Wales's fans' hope is on the partnership between Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey while Yussuf Poulsen's precision is to ripple the net in the deciding moments of the game.

Match Prediction: Wales 1-2 Denmark [AET]

This will be a game to watch between the two ambitious sides in the competition. Wales wants to mimic their unforgettable debut campaign of 2016 in which they reached the semifinals of the Euros while Denmark's stake is moving deeper into the competition to give the perfect gift to their player, Christian Eriksen for a speedy recovery. In the end, Denmark's positive record versus Wales will get them over the line and add more pages to their incredible story.
