Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2026: First Round – Day 6 Results
(Pool C)
New Zealand 0–3 Spain
Spain finished Pool C in second place with seven points after beating New Zealand by 3-0. Patricia Álvarez recorded a hat-trick (40’, 55’, & 60’) to secure a strong win.
New Zealand lost all their three Pool C games, previously recording a 5-2 defeat against the hosts Belgium and a 3-2 loss against Ireland. On the other hand, before recording a 1-1 draw against Belgium, Spain claimed a fighting 3-2 victory against Ireland.
Belgium 2–1 Ireland
Hosts Belgium finished top of Pool C after ending the first round with a 2-1 win against Ireland. Charlotte Beggs produced the lead for Ireland in the first quarter (13’) before the hosts scored two goals in the last quarter, which Charlotte Englebert (49’) and Ambre Ballenghien (60’) scored field goals.
After recording a 5-2 win in their tournament opener against New Zealand, Belgium secured a 1-1 draw against Spain. Meanwhile, the third-place Ireland only managed to beat New Zealand closely (3-2), while starting the competition with a 3-2 close defeat against Spain.

China 5–1 South Africa
China finished Pool D as champions with a 5-1 win against South Africa. Zou Meirong (4’) opened the scoreline early for China before South Africa equalised, as Paris-Gail Isaacs scored in the 25th minute. However, in less than a minute, Zhong Jiaqi helped China regain the lead before Yu Anhui (30’) and Chen Yi (46’) added to the scoreline before Zou completed her brace in the 58th minute.
China started the tournament with a 2-2 win before beating England by 4-2. On the other hand, South Africa lost all their three Pool D games, as they previously lost against England and India by 4-0 and 6-1, respectively.
India 0–0 England
India edged out England for the second-round qualification battle with a goalless draw, as India finished in second position in Pool D with five points, and England managed third place with four points.
Earlier, India started the tournament with a 2-2 draw against China before thrashing South Africa by 6-1. On the other hand, England began the tournament with a 4-0 win against South Africa before losing against China by 4-2.
