The team for the T20 World Cup 2024 for India is more or less selected, as players have been picked based on their performances. The one spot that is remaining is for the wicketkeepers. There can be two wicketkeepers that will be picked in the squad. The number of contenders for the wicketkeeper spots is large. All of them are extremely good players.

Let’s look at the contenders for the Indian wicketkeeper spot for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul is an experienced wicketkeeper-batter who has been playing in the last two T20 World Cups for India. Rahul is one of the strongest contenders for the wicketkeeper-batter spot in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He has a strike rate of 139 in T20Is for India in 70+ matches. He needs to have a good IPL 2024.

Rishabh Pant

The recently returned Rishabh Pant is also one of the strongest contenders for the wicketkeeper-batter spot in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. He has returned since IPL 2024, and he has shown glimpses of his old best. He has hit multiple half-centuries at a strike rate of more than 150. Rishabh Pant is a match-winner.

Sanju Samson

The captain of Rajasthan Royals, Sanju Samson, is also one of the wicketkeeper-batters who are reckoned to be the wicketkeeper for India in the forthcoming T20 World Cup. He has been playing well in the IPL 2024 as he has scored more than 250 runs at a strike rate of more than 150. He has also led very well, as his team is performing strongly at the IPL 2024. He has a strike rate of more than 130 in the 25 T20Is for India.

Ishan Kishan

The explosive opening batter of Mumbai Indians, Ishan Kishan, is also one of those who are in the running. The drawback he has is that he is primarily an opening batter, and the wicketkeeper-batter for India needs to bat in the middle order. The left-handed batter has already produced some good performances in the IPL 2024. Ishan has a strike rate of almost 125 in 30+ matches when playing for India.

Dinesh Karthik

The next contender for the wicketkeeper spot in the upcoming T20 World Cup is Dinesh Karthik. Something happens to him because whenever there is a big tournament, he plays so well in the IPL. He has set the 2024 IPL on fire as he has scored 200+ runs so far at a great strike rate of more than 200. He just needs to keep batting like this.

Jitesh Sharma

The sixth name on this list is Jitesh Sharma. He was the T20I wicketkeeper for India just before the IPL 2024 started. He made full use of all his opportunities. He has a 140+ strike rate after batting in seven T20I innings for India. Jitesh Sharma can be in the Indian team for the upcoming T20 World Cup. He is also the vice-captain of the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2024.
