The visitors New Zealand thrashed the hosts Zimbabwe in the second and final Test of the series to win the series by 2-0. 


After New Zealand won the Test series opener by nine wickets, Zimbabwe chose to bat first in the second Test at Bulawayo, where Brendon Taylor made his international cricket comeback after completing his 3 1⁄2 years suspension by the ICC. 


Zimbabwe scored only 125 runs in the first innings of the second Test, while New Zealand replied with 601/3 before declaring their innings. Hosts were then bundled out for only 117 runs, and the visitors won the Test match by an innings and 359 runs.

A record partnership outside home 

New Zealand batters Henry Nicholls and Rachin Ravindra had a 256-run partnership for the unbroken fourth wicket in the second innings of the match. It was the joint highest runs partnership for the fourth or lower wickets for New Zealand in a Test match outside home. Previously, during the 2006 Cape Town Test against the hosts South Africa, Stephen Fleming and James Franklin had a 256-run partnership for the eighth wicket. 


Test debutant's record-breaking debut 

The Test debutant Zakary Foulkes had the bowling figures of 9-2-37-5 in the third innings of the match. It was the fifth-best bowling figures in an innings by a New Zealand Test debutant.

With the match bowling figures of 25-7-75-9, Test debutant Zakary Foulkes set the record for best bowling figures in a match by a New Zealand Test debutant. The previous record was 32.1-8-93-9 by Will O’Rourke against South Africa during the 2024 Hamilton Test.

  • It was the largest Test victory margin (by an innings) for New Zealand. The previous record was winning by an innings and 301 runs against Zimbabwe during the 2012 Napier Test. 

  • It was the third-biggest Test winning margin (by an innings) for any team. The top two records are winning by an innings and 579 runs for England (vs Australia at The Oval in 1938) and an innings and 360 runs for Australia (vs South Africa at Johannesburg in 2002).
