After an exciting opening Gameweek, there are already several players who have caught the attention of Fantasy Premier League managers.
From Liverpool's exciting new attacker Victor Munoz to Brentford's midfield revelation Mamadou Sangaré, here are the top five FPL differential picks for Gameweek 2.
1. Victor Munoz — £6.5m
Victor Munoz could become a very interesting FPL differential after making an immediate impact from the bench against Newcastle. Liverpool were struggling to create enough attacking momentum, but Munoz brought pace, directness and energy when he entered the game.
The winger was lively from the moment he came on, repeatedly taking on Newcastle defenders and using his speed to create problems. Most importantly for FPL managers, his involvement eventually led to Liverpool's late penalty, with Munoz being brought down inside the box. Dominik Szoboszlai converted from the spot to rescue a 2-2 draw for Liverpool.
Munoz finished with an assist and four FPL points despite playing only 27 minutes, making his impact particularly impressive.
Liverpool now face Nottingham Forest at home, which is an excellent fixture for their attacking players. If Munoz earns a starting role, he could be one of the most exciting differentials of the week.
2. Mamadou Sangaré — £5.6m
Mamadou Sangaré is arguably the standout budget differential heading into Gameweek 2.
The Brentford midfielder produced an outstanding Premier League debut against Tottenham as the Bees secured a dominant 3-0 victory. Sangaré played a huge role in Brentford's control of the midfield, contributing both defensively and offensively. He registered two assists and also accumulated enough defensive actions to earn FPL's defensive contribution points.
That resulted in an enormous 14-point FPL haul in Gameweek 1.
At just £5.6m following his early price movement, Sangaré is one of the most attractive cheap midfield options in the game. His next fixture is particularly interesting too, with Brentford travelling to face Leeds.
Given his combination of defensive contribution potential, attacking involvement and price, Sangaré could be an excellent set-and-forget differential.
3. Maxence Lacroix — £6.0m
Maxence Lacroix was already considered an interesting defensive FPL option after joining Chelsea, largely because of his ability to produce defensive contribution points while playing for a top club capable of collecting clean sheets.
However, his attacking potential could make him even more appealing.
Against Fulham, Lacroix showed that Xabi Alonso's system can give his centre-backs considerable freedom to move forward. The defender was spotted inside the opposition box multiple times in open play rather than simply joining set pieces, and he ultimately finished the match with a goal.
That combination is extremely valuable for FPL managers. Even if Lacroix doesn't score or assist, Chelsea's defensive strength gives him clean-sheet and defensive-contribution potential. But if Alonso continues encouraging his centre-backs to push forward, Lacroix could have an additional route to attacking returns.
With Chelsea facing Brighton in Gameweek 2, he looks like a very appealing defensive differential.
4. Brian Brobbey — £6.0m
Brian Brobbey is another excellent differential forward for Gameweek 2.
Sunderland lost their opening match against Ipswich, but their next fixture gives Brobbey a chance to respond. Sunderland will welcome Fulham, whose attacking performance against Chelsea was promising but whose defence also showed signs of vulnerability.
Home advantage could be particularly important. Sunderland produced excellent results at home last season, and the atmosphere at the Stadium of Light can make them a completely different proposition.
Brobbey is a physically dangerous striker who can cause problems for defenders, and at £6.0m he offers an affordable route into Sunderland's attack. If the Black Cats can create enough chances, he has the quality to turn one of them into an FPL return.
5. Martin Ødegaard — £6.5m
Martin Ødegaard completes our list and could be one of the most intriguing midfield differentials this week.
The Arsenal captain has looked excellent recently and scored in their 3-0 victory over Coventry. At his best, Ødegaard is one of the finest playmakers in world football, and his creativity gives him plenty of potential for both goals and assists.
Arsenal now face an Aston Villa side that is struggling for stability after losing several important players during the summer. That could create opportunities for Ødegaard to control the game and get into dangerous attacking positions.
At £6.5m, he is also considerably cheaper than many of the premium midfielders. His popularity is already rising, with more than thousands of managers transferring him in ahead of Gameweek 2.
Best FPL Differentials for Gameweek 2
Munoz offers exciting upside if he earns a start, while Sangaré is arguably the safest budget differential after his sensational 14-point debut. Lacroix provides an unusual combination of defensive and attacking potential, Brobbey offers a cheap forward option, and Ødegaard could provide Arsenal's creativity at an affordable price.
For FPL managers looking beyond the obvious premium picks, these five players could be worth serious consideration in Gameweek 2.
