With the recent turn in form for the Red Devils, the fans are already excited for the prospects of a better season after some good seven years. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was called upon to see out the rest of the campaign as a caretaker manager. But he has proved to be a blessing in disguise for the Manchester-based club. Since his first Premier League match against Cardiff City, who would have thought the club will be just three points behind the third-placed Tottenham's side? And beating the mighty Paris Saint-German to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UCL too. He has got Old Trafford buzzing once again. Short passes and blistering counter-attacks, everything that the club is known for over the years.

Man Utd would be looking to add these stars to the lineup in the summer

Until now, Ole has preferred a 4-3-3 formation with Rashford being the central striker well flanked by Martial and Lingard. Pogba is on the left of a three-man midfield along with Matic and Herrera. The Frenchman often drifts into the number-10 position, looking for through-balls and an occasional shot from long distance too. Lindelof has cemented his place in the lineup too. With Bailly suffering from a dip-in-form in recent weeks, Jones and Smalling have been tried alongside Lindelof. Shaw and Young are the full backs in his preferred lineup. David De Gea has been in goals, winning many games all on his own.

With the club's ambitions growing rapidly over the last few months, Manchester United are on the lookout for a major trophy next term. Here is how Manchester United could lineup next season:

Backline:

  1. David De Gea (GK): One of the best goalkeepers in the world currently is David De Gea. The Spanish international has probably been the best player for the club over the past eight years, winning the Player of the Year on four different occasions. He is already in talks over a potentially bumper contract and could become the highest-earner of the club. Manchester United will look to tie down their star keeper for few more years at least.

  1. Victor Lindelof (CB): Lindelof had quite a tough start to his Manchester United career. But he has grown in confidence as the season has unfolded. He is comfortable on the ball, providing pinpoint passes and a great header of the ball too. He has surely cemented his place for the next season in the reds jersey.

  1. Toby Alderweireld (CB): The Belgian International has been constantly linked with the red devils for the better part of last season. But they failed to negotiate a deal with him. Tottenham have activated a one-year extension which has also activated a £25-million release clause in his contract. At 29, he is surely on the peak of his power and good 3-5 years of football left in him, he will be a bargain at this price tag. He averages 2 tackles and interceptions matched with 5.2 clearances per game.

  1. Luke Shaw (LB): One of the first few names on the team is Luke Shaw. The 23-year-old England International has been exceptional in this campaign for United and made the left-back position his own. And Manchester United should struck to him for the next season too. He is quick and has a sweet left foot while he is defensively sound as well.

  1. Diogo Dalot (RB): Diogo Dalot was last summer's signing from Porto for a reported fee of around £19 million. But he has been restricted to the bench for the better part of this season. As great a servant that Ashley Young has been for the club in the past decade, it is just about time to step aside and let this promising teenager takeover. He has been instrumental in their record-breaking win over PSG in the UEFA Champions League.

Mid-field:

  1. Ander Herrera (CM): There have been several reports linking Herrera to PSG in recent weeks. But Manchester United should do all they could to keep the former Athletic Bilbao man at the club. He has been the unsung hero for the club, sitting on the back and doing the dirty work of winning the ball back and giving it to Paul Pogba to takeover. He has been a captain who doesn't need an armband to marshall his players. He is surely going to be the captain for the next season.

  1. Paul Pogba (CM): With Paul Pogba in the side, Manchester United looks a totally different side altogether on the pitch. He keeps them ticking in the centre of the pitch. And the team is built around him. The recent turn in fortunes for the France international has seen him restore faith among the United faithful. He has been directly involved in 11 out of 20 goals that United have scored under Ole's regime. That's an astonishing 55 per cent.

  1. Bruno Fernandes (CM): You could have put Fred or Andreas Pereira for this spot, but the fact that both are more defensive-minded works against them. And Bruno Fernandes would perfectly slot in to pair up with Paul Pogba. He will provide just the creativity that United needs in the middle of the park. He has scored 20 goals already this season and assisted another eleven to go with it. Can Manchester United get their hands upon him?

Forwards:

  1. Anthony Martial (LW): One of the most improved players ever since Solskjaer has taken over is the Frenchman Anthony Martial. He was almost playing like a wingback rather than a Winger under Mourinho. But he has flourished over the past few weeks, dribbling past opponents for fun. He has a keen eye for his teammates in the final third of the pitch too.

  1. Marcus Rashford (ST): Rashford has managed to replace Romelu Lukaku in the pecking order and he has taken this opportunity with both hands. Running at defenders, trying new things, drifting wide, cutting in or having a try from long way out. He is doing it all and doing it pretty well too. He will surely be in the lineup for the next season.

  1. Jadon Sancho (RW): The young English Winger left Manchester City to join Borussia Dortmund in 2017. And he is currently leading the assist charts in the top five Leagues in Europe, level with Lionel Messi at 12. United have a problem on the right side of the pitch for some time now. Mata is slow, Lingard is not an orthodox right winger in the first place. Sancho can solve this issue for sure. He is a wonderful combination of raw speed and an impeccable ability to find the back of the net. But will he move in the summer?

If United can get this lineup in place, they could surely challenge for the Premier League at least!
