After a long dry spell, the Punjab Kings (PBK) finally delivered a remarkable performance in the last IPL season, IPL 2025, where they reached their second IPL Final and began dreaming of winning their first IPL trophy. However, the IPL 2014 runners-up had another heartbreaking IPL Final experience as Royal Challengers Bengaluru won their first IPL title after beating Punjab Kings by six runs in the Final. It was the Punjab Kings’, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, first IPL playoffs after the 2014 edition.
As the Punjab Kings retained 21 players before the IPL 2026 mini-auction, they had fewer jobs in the auction table, where they fulfilled their remaining four player spots, including two overseas players, after starting the auction bid war with the remaining purse value of INR 11.50 crore.

Punjab Kings enter IPL 2026 with a well-balanced and dangerous squad, especially after their impressive 2025 season. With Shreyas Iyer leading a strong batting core and a bowling attack featuring Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, PBKS have the tools to go deep again. Their strength lies in their all-rounder depth and aggressive batting, while consistency at the top will be key. If their core players replicate last season’s form, Punjab Kings could once again challenge strongly for their maiden IPL title.
