Rajasthan Royals have a history dating back to the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League (2008), when they stunned everyone by winning the trophy. Since then, the Royals experienced many tough times, including failing to reach the top four places for four straight seasons.
In the last four IPL seasons, the Royals reached the playoffs twice, while playing their second IPL Final in the 2022 edition, where they finished as runners-up after losing the Final against the debutant Gujarat Titans. While they were eliminated from Qualifier 2 in IPL 2024, they finished in ninth position in the last edition, the lowest performance in their IPL history.
Before the IPL 2026 mini-auction, the Rajasthan Royals traded in two players and retained 14 players. They fulfilled the remaining nine spots in the latest auction, including one overseas spot, while they started the auction day with the purse remaining of INR 16.05 crore.

Sam Curran’s absence slightly weakens Rajasthan Royals’ balance, especially in the all-rounder department. However, with Ravindra Jadeja stepping up and multiple pace options available, RR can still field a competitive XI. Their success will now depend more on their top-order consistency and bowling attack, particularly how well Archer leads the pace unit. If they find the right overseas combination, Rajasthan Royals can still remain a strong contender for IPL 2026.
