AEW Forbidden Door 2026 is the only show of the year that will have wrestlers from AEW, NJPW, CMLL competing in it. The matches that have been announced are enough to have multiple matches this year. Therefore the scope for surprises is there throughout the show. The PPV will take place on 28th June 2026.
Let’s look at the Surprises to expect at AEW Forbidden Door 2026
Jay White
Jay White has had one of those careers in AEW which no wrestler wants to have. He has been suffering from multiple injuries and he was supposed to be in the Owen Hart Cup. He has been out for months and Forbidden Door looks like a likely place that Jay White could make his return to AEW. He is a great wrestler and can be a good opponent for Konosuke Takeshita for the title. Jay White could have been in WWE and been less injured.
Gabe Kidd
The Dogs are facing Adam Copeland and Christian Cage for the AEW Tag Team Championship. Gabe Kidd was a part of the faction and he has been out with an injury. Gabe Kidd could return at the show and try and help The Dogs to win the tag team match. He might not get a big reaction but he will be important to this trios scene in AEW.
Buddy Matthews
Buddy Matthews is one of the most exciting professional wrestlers in the world. He has been out with an injury since 2025. It was not too long ago that he made his return to a professional wrestling Ring but it was not In AEW. Forbidden Door is an ideal show for him to return because there will be wrestlers not only from AEW but also from other promotions and he can attack anyone. He is best known for being the man that married Rhea Ripley.
Ruby Soho
This is a woman who has seen her wrestling career take a turn for the downside. In 2024, she announced that she was pregnant and therefore she had to step aside from the Ring. It has been 2 years and there have been videos of her training for her in-ring return. Ruby Soho will be a great addition to the Women’s roster of AEW. Mercedes Mone returned to AEW a few weeks ago.
