This past week has been one of the craziest weeks in wrestling this year. Monday to Friday has been extremely newsworthy and the wrestling fans have had something to talk about for all 5 days of the week. There have been only a few weeks like this in 2023 but last year there was such a barrage of breaking news that even some ones which were big were submerged. The WWE and AEW fan bases have had an exciting week from returning superstars to mergers to Superstars leaving to title changes.


Let’s talk about all that happened this week in wrestling


Monday – The return of Nia Jax


The week started with a big return in WWE and that was Nia Jax and she was absent from WWE ever since her absence from the Royal Rumble earlier in the year. Nia Jax has been a controversial WWE superstar to say the least , her work ethics have been under question and she has been accused of getting other wrestlers hurt. Nia Jax has won multiple women’s championships and she has come back to win one more from Rhea Ripley.


Tuesday – WWE and UFC officially merge to form TKO


Tuesday was the biggest day of this week by far because a company combining WWE and UFC was made official at the New York Stock Exchange as TKO was formed and the company had a valuation of $21.6 billion at the start of their business. WWE has been valued at $9.3 billion which is mind boggling considering where they started. WWE has already seen the effects of the merger as SmackDown on Friday was the biggest of the year. And they will help in getting better deals from their TV rights deals and more star power


Wednesday – Becky Lynch becomes NXT Women’s Champion


NXT was broadcast Wednesday morning in India and that is when Becky Lynch won the NXT Women’s Championship by beating Tiffany Straton. She and Tiffany had an incredible match and they had the main event and NXT will be an even bigger show with The Man coming around and she will get to wrestle and help so many young women in NXT in the time that she will be there. NXT will be the show to watch out for


Thursday – Jade Cargill leaves AEW


On Thursday morning when the tapings for AEW Rampage took place that is when Jade Cargill had her last match in AEW against Kris Statlander for the AEW TBS Championship. Jade Cargill has been reported to go to WWE because she and AEW were unable to work out a deal to stay and WWE have offered her a lot more money and she will be more suited in WWE. The list of dream Matches is big like Bianca Belair, Charlotte Flair etc


Friday – The Rock returns to WWE


The week ended on Friday with WWE SmackDown and that is when the Great One returned to WWE and the roof blew off the arena. It was a total surprise and it was incredible to see him after 5 years and he made a moment with Austin Theory and he even hugged John Cena. The Rock returning to WWE was a huge deal and it opens the possibility of the 2 sides working together more.
