This is the Rivalry that was the heartbeat of the Attitude Era and made WWE the best professional wrestling company on Earth. Nobody was near WWE and the memorable moments that they had during their feud are still used in video packages today.

So, let’s look at this legendary rivalry

The Start

Their feud started in 1997 where it was The Rock who was in the Nation of Domination vs Stone Cold Steve Austin for the Intercontinental Championship and both superstars won the title and they had matches against each other and made that title prestigious. And from there in Stone Cold wanted bigger things for himself so he decided to throw the title in the river and The Rock Became intercontinental champion for 8 months.

WrestleMania 15

Their first WrestleMania match was at WrestleMania 15 and The Rock was the Corporate Champion and he was with Vince McMahon and Steve Austin had a long road to the title match as he was eliminated in the Royal Rumble Match by cheating and then he had to face Vince McMahon inside a steel cage and he won that match to earn a title shot. Finally at WrestleMania 15 they clashed and it was an all time classic where Stone Cold Steve Austin won the WWE Championship from the Rock and became the biggest star.

It Gets Personal before WrestleMania 17

Stone Cold won the 2001 Royal Rumble to earn another shot at the WWE Championship who are the time was Kurt Angle but The Rock beat him in the next PPV event and to make things worse Vince McMahon assigned the wife of Stone Cold as the manager of The Rock and from here on it got very personal and the build to the match was one of the best ever.

WrestleMania 17

Out of the 3 Matches they have had at WrestleMania, the one they had at 17 was the best of them all. This time they battled it out for 30 minutes and the crowd was eating it all up. It was a No DQ match and there were so many near falls. Vince McMahon came down to the ring and what happened next was perhaps one of the most shocking things in WWE history. He gave a steel chair to Stone Cold who used it and won the title and at the end he and Vince McMahon shook hands.

The Last Chapter

In 2003 it was time for the trilogy to be complete as The Rock said that he wanted to face Stone Cold at WrestleMania 19 and the match was made official. It was supposed to be the last match of Stone Cold Steve Austin or so we thought, this match was the most entertaining of the 3 because The Rock was the best heel in this one and Finally after trying for 3 times , The Rock was successful in beating Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania. Thus one of the greatest rivalries in WWE history came to an end.
