Day 5 of the ICC U19 World Cup 2026 delivered one-sided contests as Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa claimed emphatic victories.

On the fifth day of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026, Pakistan U19, Sri Lanka U19, and South Africa U19 claimed big wins against Scotland U19, Ireland U19, and Tanzania U19, respectively. 


Pakistan U19 claim strong win against Scotland U19

After Pakistan U19 chose to field first, Scotland U19 were bowled out for only 187 runs. Three Scottish batters managed to reach the 30-run mark, but they failed to capitalise on those innings. Apart from the skipper and opener Thomas Knight’s 37 runs, the lower-middle-order batters Ollie Jones (30) and Finally Jones (33) added some crucial runs. Among Pakistan bowlers, Ali Raza (4/37) picked up four wickets, while Momin Qamar (3/46) got three wickets and Abdul Subhan (2/36) had two wickets. 


In reply, Pakistan U19 lost both their openers when the team was at 40+ runs. However, Usman Khan and Ahmed Hussain then had a 111-run partnership for the third wicket. While Usman scored 75 off 85 balls with five fours and two sixes, Ahmed scored 47 off 92 balls with three fours. Those batting performances were enough for Pakistan U19 to chase down the target comfortably in 43.1 overs after losing four wickets. 


Pakistan U19 vs Scotland U19: Pakistan U19 won by 6 wickets (with 41 balls remaining)

  • Scotland U19 – 187 all out in 48.1 overs (Thomas Knight 37, Finlay Jones 33; Ali Raza 4/37)

  • Pakistan U19 – 190/4 in 43.1 overs (Usman Khan 75, Ahmed Hussain 47; Ollie Jones 2/41)


Sri Lanka U19 claim big victory against Ireland U19

After Sri Lanka U19 chose to bat first, both their openers Dimantha Mahavithana (9) and Viran Chamuditha (6), who recorded the highest-ever Youth ODI partnership in their tournament opener, were dismissed cheaply against the Irish bowlers. While the Lankans were struggling at 59/3, the middle-order batters helped the team to manage a challenging total of 267/5 in 50 overs. While Kavija Gamage scored 49 off 69 balls with six fours, Chamika Heenatigala scored 51 not out off 53 balls with four fours, and the no.4 batter and skipper Vimath Dinsara scored 95 off 102 balls with six fours and one six. Among the Irish bowlers, captain Oliver Riley got two wickets, with bowling figures of 10-0-51-2.


In reply, three Irish batters, including one opener and two lower-order batters managed to score 30s, as Ireland U19 were all out for 161 runs. Opener Callum Armstrong scored 39, while skipper Oliver Riley (31*) and Reuben Wilson (32) also managed to reach their 30s. Among the Lankan bowlers, Dulnith Sigera (4/19) claimed a four-fer and Rasith Nimsara (3/29) collected three wickets.


Sri Lanka U19 vs Ireland U19: Sri Lanka U19 won by 106 runs

  • Sri Lanka U19 – 267/5 in 50 overs (Vimath Dinsara 95, Chamika Heenatigala 51; Oliver Riley 2/51)

  • Ireland U19 – 161 all out in 40.1 overs (Callum Armstrong 39, Reuben Wilson 32; Dulnith Sigera 4/19)


South Africa U19 thrashed Tanzania U19

South Africa U19 handed a 329-run defeat to Tanzania U19. While South Africa scored 397/5 in 50 overs, Tanzania were bundled out for only 68 runs. After the African openers provided a solid start with a 58-run partnership, their no.3 and no.4 batters slammed centuries. Captain Muhammed Bulbulia scored a run-a-ball 108 runs with 10 fours and one six, while Jason Rowles scored 125 not out off 101 balls with 10 fours and five sixes, and they had a 201-run partnership for the third wicket. Also, the no.5 batter Paul James smashed 46 off just 18 balls with two fours and five sixes, as he had an 82-run partnership with Jason for the fourth wicket in just 5.5 overs. 


While only three late Tanzanian batters managed to reach double-digit scores, Simba Mbaki was their leading run-scorer with 17 runs. There were two run-outs and one absent hurt, as two South African bowlers managed to claim more than one wicket, who were Bayanda Majola (2/6) and Jason Rowles (2/14)

  • Tanzania U19 – 68 all out in 32.2 overs (Simba Mbaki 17, Acrey Hugo 12*; Bayanda Majola 2/6)
