In the opening game of the Women’s Hockey India League 2025/26 (Women’s HIL 2025/26), Delhi SG Pipers beat Ranchi Royals by 2-0.
Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Astro Turf Stadium in Ranchi hosted the season opener on Sunday evening (December 28), as the venue will host all the fixtures in the tournament. It was a tight and challenging contest, where Ranchi Royals suffered a 2-0 defeat against Delhi SG Pipers
The opening quarter of the season opener was very tight, but it had no scoreline movement, and there wasn’t any penalty corners or penalty strokes.
In the second quarter, there were multiple penalty corners for both teams, which resulted in the first goal of the season. In the 27th minute, Navneet Kaur from Delhi SG Pipers successfully converted a penalty corner with a powerful shot.
Despite earning three penalty corners in the third quarter, Ranchi Royals failed to take those opportunities, as the scoreline remained 1-0 for Delhi SG Pipers at the end of that quarter.
In the early part of the fourth quarter, Delhi SG Pipers got their second goal. In the first minute of the quarter, Viana Teresa from Uruguay added that goal, which was a field goal. With their controlled performances, Delhi held their 2-0 lead till the end of the match.
