In the seventh game of the Women's Hockey India League 2025/26 (Women's HIL 2025/26), winless Soorma Hockey Club have been eliminated from the tournament with two matches yet to be played, as SG Pipers beat them by 3-1.
Soorma Hockey Club, who previously lost all three of their previous matches this season, got the lead in the match in the 12th minute when Australian Penny Squibb converted from a penalty corner.
In the next minute, SG Pipers equalised the scoreline as Spanish Lola Riera Zuzuarregui scored from a penalty corner.
In the third minute of the second quarter, Jyoti Singh provided a lead for the SG Pipers with a field goal. Pipers’ last goal was recorded in the 58th minute of the match.
Sunelita Toppo secured SG Pipers’ victory with her brilliant goal, as she took the ball just behind the halfway mark and carried it before beating all the opponents to earn a goal.
With three wins and one shootout loss, SG Pipers are leading the table with 10 points in four matches. Meanwhile, Soorma Hockey Club have secured the last position in the points table by failing to open their points account after four games. In their previous meeting this season, SG Pipers claimed a 1-0 win against the last-placed team.
