The greatest Masters 1000 Final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz at Cincinnati

It is looking like Novak Djokovic vs Carlos Alcaraz is a rivalry that is shaping out to be the new defining Rivalry of tennis. Novak Djokovic has had some truly incredible rivals going from the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and now to the 20 year old Carlos Alcaraz. They had yet another final at the Cincinnati Masters 1000 which was held a few hours ago and it is most certainly the best final to not have been held at a Grand Slam. For 3 hours and 50 minutes across 3 sets these 2 players took each other to the limit.

Let’s take a look at this truly once in a lifetime match between these 2 great champions

The greatest final in Masters history

This match was highly anticipated because of their 2 classic matches they have had earlier in the year at French Open and at the Wimbledon Final. This tournament is the most important before the US Open and it was the number 1 vs number 2 in the world. From the start this match was even and nobody gave an inch to the other. Novak Djokovic however was feeling the heat of the weather and Carlos Alcaraz took advantage of the first set and just won it by 7-5 and it was looking like he was going to win yet again.

However, Novak Djokovic is not casually said to be the greatest of all time and he showed his character in the second set. He was down a break point and from there he came back in the match and Novak Djokovic won important points in the second set and the set was tied at 6-6. It was time for a tie break and Novak Djokovic is the king of tiebreaks. And after a battle, Novak Djokovic won the second set and it was 1-1. The crowd and the fans watching at home were seeing 2 geniuses painting a masterpiece in Cincinnati. There is no other player in the world that can touch these 2 right now.

Then came the 3rd set of the match and it was time to go for the kill and Novak Djokovic was going for the kill and he was playing his best tennis in the 3rd set. However Carlos Alcaraz was not to be denied as he was gritty and he saved 4 match points in the 3rd set. The rallies that they have having were absolutely breathtaking and no tennis fan would not be on the edge of their seat. The 3rd set also went to a tie breaker at 6-6 and both players were spent. Nobody knows how 36 year old Novak Djokovic was going blow for blow against 20 year old Carlos Alcaraz and they have a 16 year age difference. Finally after 3 hours and 50 minutes of 3 of the greatest sets in some time it was Novak Djokovic who won the Cincinnati Open and he lay flat on his back and tore his shirt.  Carlos Alcaraz also showed emotion and he started crying. It was that sort of Tennis match and it looks like the final of the US Open is set and the other players should not even bother to come to play.
