WWE usually did their PPVs on a Sunday and although it did well for the company, it was the fans who were inconvenienced a lot as they had to sleep late on. Sunday as Monday was a working day and the fans used to always complain that they have to stay late on Sundays and the overseas fans were the ones who had the biggest issues with the PPVs being on a Sunday. So, a year ago Nick Khan who is the Chairman of WWE took the decision that WWE PPVs will take place on a Saturday and the results have been amazing.
The WWE events happening on a Saturday is the best possible result for the company as well as the fans so let’s talk about why this is the case
WWE Saturday PPVs are here to stay
Ever since WWE PPVs have been moved to Saturdays the viewership figures of these events has gone up consistently. It all started with WrestleMania being 2 nights and the fan reaction to the event on Saturday was much better than the one on Sunday as more than 20% fans watched the event on Saturday than on Sunday. Still WWE did not move all its other events to Saturday and it took Nick Khan to make the sensible decision to shift the date and ever since the second half of last year all WWE PPVs are held on a Saturday. For example Money in the Bank this year was the most watched event in its history as It was on a Saturday and the viewership rose by 30%. And the same has been happening with Elimination Chamber, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam and Survivor Series etc.

The tickets are being sold at a record pace as all the WWE PPVs this year have been record Sales. Starting with the Royal Rumble which was on. Saturday and it sold more than 45,000 tickets and then WrestleMania Saturday sold more than 75,000 tickets which was the highest in years. Then WWE Backlash in Puerto Rico sold more than 17,000 tickets which was the highest in the event’s history. WWE Elimination Chamber in Montreal was also where WWE sold more than 18,000 tickets and the same happened with WWE Money in the Bank where WWE broke the all time arena gate at 18,500+ tickets sold. And WWE SummerSlam is on track to sell more than 50,000 tickets for this year’s event
And most importantly the revenue for WWE has increased in the millions with this 1 Move. The gate money that was received by WWE for Elimination Chamber, WrestleMania, WWE Backlash and WWE Money in the Bank was a combined $40 million plus and SummerSlam will add $7 million to this. And the WWE fans who watch on Peacock in the United States watch the WWE events are watching it more than 50% as compared to Sunday on a Saturday. And the WWE fans internationally can watch the event freely as the next day is a Sunday and so the overseas viewership has doubled on a Saturday. WWE will continue with the trend of the Saturday PPVs as the Results are incredible.
