Ranking the 5 countries that produce best tennis talent

Tennis is a globally recognized sport, with a huge fanbase, and players come from every corner of the world. However, few countries are above the rest because of producing some exceptional talents in the world.

5. Spain (38 Grand Slams)

Spain had a glorious history with tennis, it is also the country where one of the greatest players in the world Rafael Nadal was born. Manuel Sanata was the first Spaniard to win a Grand Slam and that too during an era when few players came from this country. But they became the foundation for young talents to get interested in the sport.

After many talented players from Spain, the world finally witnessed the best from the Spanish soil who not only won  20 major titles but also earned the nickname of “King of Clay” because of his dominance at clay. These legends still inspire more Spanish talents to get into tennis every day.

4. Germany (40 Grand Slams)

The German country has given many skilled players to the world, who even became great coaches, like Boris Becker. However, this place is known as one of the best countries that produce the best tennis talent for women’s category. Many great female stars came from this country. We can’t forget about Steffi Graf, who became the symbol for tennis in the 1980s, and won 22 major singles titles. In present times, there is Angelique Kerber, who bagged three Grand Slam titles and ranks in the top 50.

The German men are no more behind the women, as many male players also made their way into the Top 100. In the future, Germany will have more players in top ranks and someone might even repeat the legendary achievements of Steffi Graf and Boris Becker.

3. United Kingdom (35 Grand Slams)

Many great legends like William Renshaw, Dorothea Douglass and more came from the English lands. William Renshaw is considered the pioneer of tennis in the United Kingdom, winning seven Grand Slam titles, which was an all-time record during the amateur era. Further, he became the first president of the British Lawn Tennis Association.

After Renshaw, many more players came to carry on his torch, like in present day it was Andy Murray, who even rose to World No. 1 and did so during the era of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. But because of a hip injury, he lost his dominance in the sport. But many more young players like Cameron Norrie and Kyle Edmund are showing great potential and soon another English player might take the top spot again.

2. Australia (35 Grand Slams)

Australia was the birthplace for many legendary players like Rod Laver, John Crawford, Margaret Smith, and many more. Rod Laver might be the best to come from this country and he not only dominated the Amateur era but also the Open era.

Australia was once feared as the strongest nation for tennis because of the talents coming from this country and they haven’t disappointed till this date. Even today, Ashleigh Barty is an exceptional talent from Australia, who is dominating the WTA and is the current Number One. There are also promising players like Alex De Minaur and Nick Kyrgios, who are already in the Top 50 and many believe him to move up in ranking soon.

1. USA (85 Grand Slams)

So many talents have come from the USA that it is near impossible to name all those superstar players. Therefore, the United States is one of the best countries that produce the best tennis talent. Legends like Don Budge, Pete Sampras, and Andre Agassi came from this developed country. These players were once the poster boys for tennis. After these legends retired, America again gave many phenomenal talents like John Isner and Andy Roddick.

However, America is more popular because of the talent it gave to women's tennis. Helen Wills is considered the best female player in the history and she was succeeded by countless talents like Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert and then Serena Williams, who became the most popular player in the world. America continues to provide many more young talents to the world. Already players like Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauff and Reilly Opelka are in the Top 50 and might even take the top spot in the future soon.
