HIL Governing Council claimed another strong win after beating Shrachi Bengal Tigers in the sixth match of the men’s Hockey India League 2025/26 (Men’s HIL 2025/26), where New Zealander Kane Russell recorded his second successive hat-trick in the competition.
In the 12th minute, Jugraj Singh provided the lead for Shrachi Bengal Tigers by converting a penalty stroke.
In the second quarter, British Samuel Ward equalised the scoreline for the HIL Governing Council with a field goal in the fourth minute. In that same minute, Kane Russell scored his first goal of the match by utilising a penalty corner opportunity.
The third quarter was a goal-fest, culminating in a 5-3 scoreline. After Russell scored his second goal of the match in the 36th minute from another penalty corner, Sudeep Chrimako scored a field goal two minutes later, as HIL GC had a 4-1 lead.
In the 40th minute, Bengal Tigers added two goals to make the scoreline 4-3. While the German Tom Grambusch scored from a penalty corner, his national team partner Jan Rühr added another from a field goal.
In the 44th minute, Russell completed his hat-trick from another penalty corner, as he has recorded two hat-tricks in two games of the season.
In the 59th minute, English James Albery secured the victory for HIL GC with another field goal.
