Tamil Nadu Dragons claimed their second shootout win this Men’s Hockey India League 2025/26 (Men’s HIL 2025/26) after beating SG Pipers in the high-scoring fixture on Friday night (January 9).
The first quarter ended with a 1-1 scoreline. Tamil Nadu Dragons opened the scoreline in the ninth minute when Amit Rohidas converted from a penalty corner. Argentine Tomás Domene scored the equaliser for SG Pipers in the 13th minute with a field goal.
In the early second quarter, the scoreline became 3-2 for the Dragons, which stayed till the end of the quarter. In the 17th minute, Dragons regained the lead after German Paul-Philipp Kaufmann scored a field goal. In the next minute, Tomás scored his second goal of the match by converting a penalty stroke. However, the Dragons again got the lead in the same minute after Australian Tom Craig scored after a penalty corner.
Australian Ky Willott made the scoreline 3-3 for SG Pipers in the 38th minute, as he scored during a penalty corner. Just two minutes later, Selvaraj Kanagaraj put the Dragons 4-3 ahead with a field goal.
In the 59th minute, SG Pipers levelled the scoreline when Aditya Lalage scored a field goal.
In the shootout, only Belgian Roman Duvekot failed to score for SG Pipers, as Tamil Nadu Dragons won the shootout event by 5-4.
