West Indies, the first team to win the Men’s T20 World Cup trophy for two times, performed strongly in the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, as the Caribbeans are ready for the Super Eight challenge in the tournament.
West Indies were in Group C during the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where their opponents were England, Italy, Nepal, and Scotland (replacement of Bangladesh). The Caribbean side played all their group stage matches in India and won all their matches to finish on top of the points table with eight points after four games.
West Indies started the tournament with a 35-run win against Scotland, where the Caribbean team scored 182/5. Then, they beat England by 30 runs by successfully defending 196/6. After thrashing Nepal by nine wickets while chasing the 134-run target in 15.2 overs, the West Indies then defeated Italy by 42 runs while successfully defending the total of 165/6.
As the seeded team, the West Indies are set to play the Super Eight stage from Group 1, where all the matches will be played in India. In Group 1, the Caribbean team will face the challenges against the hosts India, along with Zimbabwe and South Africa. Two out of four teams in the group will advance to the Semi-finals of the tournament.
