The Laver Cup started yesterday and it was a very special day for all tennis fans as the greatest of all time was bidding farewell to the sport which we all love and his greatest rivals Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic were there by his side and that was beautiful to see. I saw all the matches and it was very competitive and every single Tennis player is giving it their all for their teams. It is my favorite Tennis tournament not named anyone the 4 Grand Slams. The team atmosphere is so unique In tennis and just for 3 days all rivals become teammates.
Before we get to the results and the preview for Day 2 I have to thank all the players and Rod Laver for getting this tournament to us and we are getting to see never before seen images and some of the greatest coaches present. Let’s first see the results of Day 1.
Casper Rudd vs Jack Sock
This was the first match of the Laver Cup and did not deliver. It was the number 2 seed Casper Rudd taking on Jack of Team World. On paper it should have been an easy win for Casper but Tennis does not work that way and it was an incredible match where both players gave it their all and Jack Sock pushed Casper Rudd to the limit and Casper Rudd won the first set 6-4 but then Jack came back In the match and won the second set 7-5 and then it was the first to 10 points with a 2 point difference and here Casper Rudd had little more as he won 10-7 and gave 1 point to Team Europe.
Stephanos Tsitsipas vs Diego Schartzman
Out of the 4 Matches that took place on Day 1 this was the most one sided of them all as in this match Stephanos Tsitsipas absolutely crushed his opponent Diego Schartzman in 2 sets and in birb the sets Stephanos list only 3 games and won the match easily 6-2 and 6-1 and gave the perfect start to Team Europe and thus the afternoon session came to a close.
Andy Murray vs Alex De Minaur
This was the first of the 2 Matches in the night session and it was Andy Murray vs Alex De Minaur and this was a physical and a grueling match which went for over 2 hours and Andy Murray was getting coaching from a combined 63 Grand Slam titles and he was winning points and played his best tennis and won the 1st set 7-5 but Alex came back in the second and he won it 6-3 and it was again first to 10 points and here Alex had a little more as he won 10-7 and gave an important point to Team World.
Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal vs Jack Sock and Francis Tiafoe
It was finally time for the main event of the evening as Roger Federer was bidding farewell to tennis and it was with his greatest rival and friend Rafael Nadal In a Doubles match and this Match was the best one out of the 4 that happened. The young duo from USA were playing Incredible tennis but Roger and Rafa won the 1st set 6-4 but in the second set it was a tie break at 6-6 which Team World won and then in the deciding set Team World just won it 11-9 and got another important point and thus came to a close the career of the greatest Roger Federer.
Day 2 Preview
Matteo Berrettini vs Felix Auger Aliassime
The first match on Day 2 will be a cracker as it will be the World number 15 vs World Number 13 and every match on Day 2 gets 2 points for the winning team.
Cameron Norrie vs Taylor Pritz
The second match of the afternoon session will be another great match as it will be Number 8 vs Number 12 and both these young players will be looking to make a mark.
Novak Djokovic vs Francis Tiafoe
This is my most anticipated match of Day 2 as it Will be Novak Djokovic who is number 7 now vs Francis Tiafoe who is number 19 and having his best season yet. It will be a tough match for Novak.
Matteo Berrettini and Novak Djokovic vs Jack Sock and Alex De Minaur
This is the last match on Day 2 and it will be another great doubles match and here Team World will be looking to get 2 points as they are the more experienced team .
