In the World Athletics Championships 2025, the women’s 200m event opened a new chapter. While it has been one of the key events in the Championship since its inaugural edition in 1983, the National Stadium in Tokyo, Japan, experienced a new story.

The women’s 200m event in the World Athletics Championships 2025 had three rounds. Starting with the Heats on 17th September, the Semi-finals and Final were held on 18th and 19th September, respectively.

Final
Melissa Jefferson-Wooden from the United States, who just won the women’s 100m gold medal in this Championship, secured her first gold medal in the women’s 200m event in the World Athletics Championships 2025. She achieved it with a world-leading performance.
Great Britain secured its first medal after the 2019 gold medal, as Amy Hunt secured the silver medal.
Two-time defending champion Shericka Jackson from Jamaica earned the bronze medal in this event.
